4 Simple and Affordable Ways to Freshen Up Your Space for Spring

Updated: Apr 30, 2021

With warm weather headed our way once again, everyone wants simple ways to make THIS spring waaay brighter, fresher, + happier than the last.

Coming out of a crazy year of being locked in your home probably gave you (or your lucky S.O. 😉) a long to-do list of fix-ups.

Luckily there are several simple ways you can freshen up your space... even this weekend!

1. Deep Clean

Maintaining a clean living space is so important to our physical and mental health. Take one day this weekend to bust out your cleaning supplies + DEEPLY disinfect your home. Wipe down the whole bathroom (toilet, sinks, shower, handles, mirrors, and floors) with disinfectant spray, dust everything (including ceiling fans and picture frames) then shine up with furniture polish, vacuum and mop (and move the furniture to get the tough spots) every room, and wash all bedding including mattress protectors. Go the extra mile and wash a load of bathroom mats, reorganize a few drawers, and wrap up any laundry! This will give you a CLEAN slate to start the season. Keep up the good work by dedicating one day per week to wipe down surfaces, disinfect bathrooms, and lightly dust then vacuum. Repeat a deep clean every 2-3 months. You can check for cleaning supply coupons by registering on Apps like Rakuten, Dosh, iBotta, and Fetch! These apps save me TONS on everyday products!

2. Refresh the Decor

One of my favorite things about a new season is the new seasonal decor. Check out your local TJ Maxx, Homegoods, Marshall's, Home Sense, and Kirkland's for amazing steals on spring decor! I purchased this wreath from Kirkland's and it was perfect for spring! I also purchased these decor pieces for our entryway table. I am loving the bright flower additions! My favorite might be the Gather sign! It is the perfect size for wall art!

3. Boost the Scents

I am obsessed with the candle aisle at any store. I mostly diffuse Young Living Essential Oils, but I love the aesthetic of burning candles. I try to stick with soy or natural candles, because synthetic candles tend to give me headaches. One of my favorite scents year-round is vanilla, especially in my kitchen! Spring scents are tough to find because I am so picky, but Kirkland's Orchid candle has been getting so many compliments.

4. Enhance the Outdoor Living

Last but not least, your outdoor space is so important. I stopped by Dollar General (don't forget to use the coupon apps I shared above) and grabbed some super cute outdoor decor! A solar powered lantern, some small candles, and some cute pots! I swung by Lowe's and my floral-artist mama helped me pick out some tiny flowers. It's a start... but if you're really serious about upgrading your outdoor living space be sure to check out Daniel's Lawn & Tree, LLC! They are a one-stop-shop for all things outdoor living, from landscaping to tree care. If you live in Wilmington, northern New Castle County, surrounding areas in Delaware, Maryland, and Pennsylvania – I recommend you checking out this company for tree care in New Castle county. They also have a 24-hr emergency service available! Totally makes them stand out.

I hope these simple tips help you to enjoy the inside + outside of your home a little more this season. Carve out some time this weekend + you'll be so glad that you did! Check out my Like to Know It for links to all of these decor pieces. Happy Spring, y'all!
